Jute Loo Roll Basket
What a great idea - a unique and stylish way to tidy away those spare loo rolls (will take up to 5). Hand woven by a fair trade artisan cooperative in Bangladesh, where the natural jute plant grows. A rain-fed crop that doesn't need much in the way of fertilizer or pesticides - the warm, wet climate during the monsoon season providing ideal growing conditions. It takes between 4-6 months for the plants to reach around 12 feet when they are harvested, the stems tied together and soaked in water to soften before being stripped of their fibers which are then woven.
(See other jute baskets - small round and small square)
